About our Speaker:
Carla Jackson became the Cobb County Tax Commissioner in January 2014. As a local Constitutional Officer, she is accountable for every phase of billing, collecting and disbursing all ad valorem taxes for Georgia’s 3rd largest county. She joined the Tax Commissioner's Office in July 2003 as the Business Services Manager assuming responsibility for the day-to-day functions of property tax billing and collections, electronic payments, document imaging applications and the cobbtax.org website. She was appointed Chief Deputy in April 2012.
Immediately prior to joining the Tax Commissioner’s Office, Carla was a technology consultant. She has also worked in the Enterprise Applications group at Turner Broadcasting System, and in the Accounting and Financial Systems departments at The Home Depot. She began her professional career as an auditor with Broniec and Associates.
Carla earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Accounting and Business Management from North Carolina State University. She holds a certificate in Information Technology Management from Georgia Tech and is a licensed CPA. She is a graduate of several leadership development programs including the Executive Leadership Institute for Tax Officials from the University of Georgia; the EXCEL Executive Development Program from Cobb County Government; and Turner’s Emerging Leaders Program from Turner Broadcasting System.
She is actively involved in the Tax Commissioner’s Technology Council and in the Georgia Association of Tax Officials professional organizations. Her community involvement includes Honorary Commanders, Cobb Executive Women, Leadership Cobb Alumni and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
Carla and her husband, Eddie, have lived in Cobb County since 1986; and they have 3 children. She enjoys participating in her kids’ activities, shopping, reading and playing tennis.
